Why some photographers are cheaper than others? by Leticia Gaidon Bradford

Why Some Photographers Are Cheaper Than Others?

This is one of the most searched questions online regarding photography. It is understandable as this industry is a niche and the cost of making photos to a high professional standard is not evident.

Let’s think about restaurants. There are obvious characteristics that make you pay higher prices without hesitation. You clearly expect to pay more in a restaurant with some Michelin Stars than a fast-food store. Well, photography is the same, but it is not clear what makes the difference between services because the answer is not simple or obvious. By the way, once I heard a scientist saying: “if the answer is easy, it is not the right answer”. Therefore, to reply properly this question we need a wider approach.

So, let’s start to correct some wrong concepts to improve the knowledge about this topic. Please, follow the link to read the complete article.

Photography Portrait Styles: Peter Lindbergh by Leticia Gaidon Bradford

Photography Portrait Styles: Peter Lindbergh

Known as the father of the super-models and who changed the old look of the fashion magazines, Peter Lindbergh had a unique way of making portraits.

This German photographer and film marker established his own terms to the fashion industry from the beginning. He was taking the pictures that he enjoyed with the style of women he loved, women with purpose. He was inspired by the ladies he saw in the art school, wearing jeans and trainers. For that reason, until the early 80’s he declined to work for American Vogue magazine where only wealthy wives had space.

Read more about him and his style in my blog of December.

Auchintoul a Gem in Aboyne by Leticia Gaidon Bradford

One of my fondest memories are the months that our family spent in Aboyne. This village founded by Charles Gordon in 1671 has everything that I look for, a lot of greenery, mountains, and walks.

The weather was good during those months and when it was not, I did not bother so much. I was not looking for sunny days, as we were just back in Scotland after some years in the Tropic. On the contrary, a cloudy sky was very welcome as it provided me of some moody pictures.

We choose to stay in a place called Auchintoul; a summer house that originally belong to the parents of the famous photographer and naturalist, Seton Gordon. This large chalet enclosed by an extensive mature garden was perfect for our isolation time during the pandemic.

The master mind behind the design of this house was the Aberdonian architect George Bennet Mitchell. I was impressed for the smart orientation of this home, the photographic eye to frame the scenery surround and its solid construction. Most of the modern houses fail in one of these three factors, if not in all of them.

We arrived at the end of the winter season and move toward warmer days. You will see how the vegetation and the light changed through the images. I tried to capture the feeling of each season and our experience in this marvellous place.

I invite you to scroll down and see more images of this holiday rental house, and I hope you can feel the atmosphere of being there.

On Christmas time... by Leticia Gaidon Bradford

I really enjoy having Christmas in the tropic. I like how quiet the city is in this moment of the year. Furthermore, some of my dearest friends stay here instead to travel back home, which means meeting them in different parties. However, I decided to post a wintery Christmas theme for the blog just to remind myself how it was my life some years ago. Remember my place, my garden, the walks around the house and how it looked my white Christmas.
