New Year, New Me: Why You Should Update Your Professional Profile Picture. / by Leticia Gaidon Bradford

Renew your professional profile picture every year

The beginning of the year started for me with doing a new headshot for a manager. That work generated the idea for this blog. Clearly, one of the routines that we should adopt in January is to renew our professional profile picture.

The new year is a time for fresh starts, new goals, and new opportunities. It’s also a great time to update your professional profile picture, whether it’s on LinkedIn, Twitter, or your own website. Why? Because your profile picture is one of the first things that people see when they look you up online, and it can make a big difference in how they perceive you and your brand.

In this case, the new professional profile image had to match the style of the company. You can renew your image respecting the aesthetic of your company’s website.

Three reasons why you should update your professional profile picture for the new year:

It shows you are up to date as a professional

A profile picture that is outdated, blurry, or low-quality can give the impression that you are not keeping up with the latest trends, technologies, or standards in your industry. A profile picture that is recent, clear, and high-quality can show that you are on top of your game and that you care about your professional image.

It shows that you are inimitable

A profile picture that is boring, generic, or inappropriate can make you seem dull, unoriginal, or unprofessional. A profile picture that is unique, creative, and suitable can make you stand out from the crowd and showcase your individuality and flair.

It attracts the right people

A profile picture that is mismatched, misleading, or off-putting can turn away potential customers, partners, or employers. A profile picture that is aligned, accurate, and appealing can draw in the right people who are interested in what you have to offer and who share your values and vision.

Now, I must prepare to renew my profile picture for 2024.

Bye for now.
