I must confess, I almost missed this event. But my husband likes the Red Arrowsβ¦ which, in our language, means he wants me to photograph them!π
I went to the Tall Ships event with a personal challenge: to photograph an airshow for the first time, unfortunately without the ideal lenses. Although, I was genuinely curious to see what I could achieve under those conditions. And of course, I wanted to make my husband happy by capturing the Red Arrows.π
Then, a WhatsApp message from a friend sparked a different kind of excitement: the public was allowed on board the ships. That changed everything for me. When I pick up my camera, I aim to capture the essence of a place and its people, the spirit of the moment, always seeking beauty and meaning in what I see. Whether Iβm in Aberdeen or a remote village in Africa, I photograph with dignity and aesthetic care.
Although this was technically a family outing, my daughter and husband are used to the fact that the camera comes with me, always. They know Iβll be making random stops, chasing the light or the right angle.
In organised events like this, I photograph to tell a story. Each image is part of a visual narrative that offers harmony, beauty, and a glimpse into the lives of the people involved.
I hope you enjoy the photos, each one is a small window into a beautiful day in Aberdeen.π
A huge well done to everyone involved in making this event happen, what an incredible atmosphere across the city.β
