But psychology shows us that procrastination is rarely about time, it’s about emotions. Procrastination is an avoidance strategy. We delay tasks not because we don’t care, but because the task triggers feelings we’d rather not face. Fear of failure, perfectionism, self-doubt, or even attachment to the past, all of these can become emotional barriers that disguise themselves as “I’ll do it later.” In other words, procrastination is not about discipline; it’s about discomfort. And that’s often what happens when people put off booking their headshots or portraits. It’s not really about finding the right time, losing a few pounds, or waiting for the perfect outfit. It’s about how we feel about being seen. For many professionals, standing in front of a camera brings up insecurities, about appearance, age, confidence, or even self-worth. The idea of being photographed can expose parts of ourselves we’d rather hide. But here’s the truth: once you face that discomfort, something powerful happens. You begin to see yourself differently, with kindness, confidence, and acceptance.
