Discover Liberata: A New Way to Express Your Sensuality and Strength Through Photography

For a long time, I had a dilemma as a photographer and as a woman regarding boudoir photography. This genre of photography did not represent my aesthetic. I did not feel that many women were being photographed in a way that expressed their true selves.

Furthermore, the concept of taking a boudoir session as a gift for a partner did not make sense to me. I always thought that this experience should be designed and enjoyed by the protagonist in the image. If someone else later likes the photos, that is a plus, but it should not be the main purpose of the photo session.

I consider that boudoir photography was conceived to please men’s eyes. It is a masculine vision of women, which is not necessarily bad. I am not looking to be judgmental about this style of photography. However, I feel that the feminine visual expression was not represented overall. In many cases, we continue photographing this genre following a remarkable masculine aesthetic. Therefore, I decided to show an alternative product to that style, and I called it Liberata.

Liberata: A New Way to Express Your Sensuality and Strength

Liberata is a blend of contemporary portrait, boudoir, and fashion photography. This photo session is about sensuality but in different terms. It was designed to express a woman who does not look for others’ approval and desire. She knows her worth. She is in her own energy, and from there, she shines. She is powerful (or she is looking to connect with her power through this session).

Under this vision, the person is no longer a sexual object; it is a sensual subject. The attention is focused on showing the persona and her strength. I want to photograph you in a position of power.

Liberata Is Boudoir?

Why don’t I use the word “boudoir”? I chose the name Liberata because it means a liberated, free-spirited person. I decided to use an Italian word because I am Latina-Italian, and in my culture strength and sensuality are not opposed qualities. They go together.

The decision of not using the term Boudoir was taken as Liberata doesn’t follow the traditional idea and message of Boudoir. Therefore, naming my service Boudoir, it could be considered misleading.

Liberata is about leaving behind the conventions and expectations that others have for you, allowing your uniqueness to shine through.

Join the Liberata movement and embrace your power.
