Black and white landscape photography is part of my personal repertoire. It is not original at all, I know that. The legendary Ansel Adams remains the ultimate reference, and in many ways, he is immortalised through his monochrome work.
However, my main attraction to black and white photography in landscapes is not the terrain or the mountains. It is the sky. More specifically, I love clouds.
This is why bad weather never annoys me. On the contrary, these conditions are perfect for capturing the dramatic images I am always looking for. Strong contrasts, movement in the sky, and heavy clouds bring depth and emotion to monochrome landscape photography. In that sense, I live in absolutely the right country for this kind of work.
Today, I am sharing with you some of the many black and white landscape images I have taken while travelling around Scotland with my family. I hope you enjoy them.
